Israeli forces have pushed deeper into southern Lebanon, with at least 55 towns and villages now under Israeli troop control as cross-border clashes with Hezbollah intensify, officials and local reporting said. The developments were reported May 25, 2026, from Tyre in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has targeted Israeli troops inside Lebanese territory using drones, artillery, rockets, and missiles, and it has also carried out attacks across the border into northern Israeli communities, according to the report. Israel has described its actions as self-defense.

The repoSources said Israeli forces have moved up to 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory. It also described systematic demolition of homes, businesses, schools and hospitals that Israel says are used by Hezbollah, while noting that Israel has provided little evidence for those claims.

Israeli bombardments have intensified in southern Lebanon, and the Lebanese Health Ministry reported at least 3,151 fatalities across Lebanon since early March, the repoSources said.

Damage and displacement in occupied areas

The report described “a huge impact on people” in southern areas where Israeli troops are now present. It said the occupation has expanded across dozens of towns and villages, amid sustained exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah said it carried out 28 operations on Sunday, including strikes aimed at Israeli forces and military posts inside southern Lebanon, according to the recap in the same update.

U.S. comments on Iran talks and nuclear review

Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump said a deal with Iran is not “fully negotiated yet” and that he has instructed envoys “not to rush into a deal,” according to the report. He said “time is on our side.”

The United States also expressed disappointment over the failure of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty member states to agree on a final document after a 2026 review, accusing some countries of being unable “to take Iran’s threat to global nonproliferation seriously,” the repoSources said.

Further updates are expected as fighting continues along the Israel-Lebanon border and as U.S. officials signal their next steps on Iran diplomacy.
